Please join us in assistingThe Children's Alliance of Hawaii, in its ongoing work to provide support services for Hawaii's sexually abused children:

(1) Share your household "treasures"!

From August 12 to September 9, HWL will hold it's first ever "Up-cycling Drive," to collect recycled items for CAH's H.E.A.R.T. program ("Healing Emotions through Arts & Recreation Together"). Please stop by any of our drop-off locations (Up-cycling.Drive.pdf) to contribute your clean glass jars, old t-shirts, glass beads, old or broken crayons/colored pencils, fabric scraps and other items (for a complete list, see: Up-cycling.list.doc). These supplies will be used for children's craft projects, to provide them with a constructive/creative outlet...and it's a great way to clean out your drawers and cabinets for a worthy cause!  For more information, please contact Maria Calderon at mariacal@hawaii.edu, or Tricia Nakamatsu at prish@juno.com.

(2) Share your life skills & experience!

CAH's Pinao Program is seeking volunteer guest speakers to lead interactive talks and/or workshops at CAH (200 N. Vineyard Blvd), any Wednesday from 3-4 pm. With the assistance of community volunteers, the Pinao Program teaches CAH clients (primarily ages 13-19) important life skills, such as goal-setting, job-interview preparation, stress- and/or time-management, college/career preparation, and healthy relationships (for details, see: Pinao.Description.doc, Pinao.classes.doc). To volunteer as a guest speaker, propose new topics, or for more information, please contact Monica at CAH, at maquiningoc@cahawaii.org or (808) 599-2955, ext. 212.

Mahalo for supporting these amazing initiatives!

Warmly,
HWL Community Projects Committee
