A JD is a highly valued qualification that can pave the way for success in various professions.  At our next luncheon we will hear from Jan Boivin of Hawai`i Pacific University, Miriah Holden of American Savings Bank, and Patsy Saiki of First American Title, who will discuss their career trajectories and professional experiences within and without the traditional law firm environment.  Come join us to make connections and learn more about what you can do with your JD

 

Speakers:

Jan Boivin is the Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Board Secretary for Hawai’i Pacific University.  Prior to coming to HPU, Ms. Boivin represented management in a wide range of employment and labor-related issues at Marr Jones & Wang in Honolulu, Hawai'i.  She is an Ombudsman for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve and is the co-founder of HPU’s We Care program, a Title IX sexual assault prevention and campus safety program.  

 

Miriah Holden joined American Savings Bank in August 2016 as the Lending Compliance & Risk Manager.  Prior to joining American Savings Bank, Ms. Holden worked at Alston Hunt Floyd & Ing.  Her practice focused on collections, foreclosures, medical malpractice defense, asbestos defense, and commercial litigation.  Ms. Holden is a former ABA Young Lawyers Division president and alumna of the Leadership Institute.  She is currently involved with the YLD, and also sits on the boards of Volunteer Legal Services of Hawai`i and the National Asian Pacific Bar Association, Hawai`i. 

 

Patsy Saiki is the Executive Vice President of First American Title, Hawai`i. Ms. Saiki previously served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of First American, and President of an affiliated escrow and title company, Pacific Access Escrow & Title Company. Prior to that, she was a partner at Watanabe Ing & Komeij.  Ms. Saiki is a past President of Hawai`i Women Lawyers and served on the boards of the Institute for Human Services and Helping Hands Hawai`i.  She is currently a member of the board of the Mortgage Bankers Association of Hawai`i and is the Chair of the Patsy T. Mink Political Action Committee.
