Lady Lawyers Luncheon:

Doing Business with the State and County

Monday, June 15, 2015 at Noon

Offices of Alston Hunt Floyd & Ing, American Savings Bank Tower, 1001 Bishop Street, 20th Floor conference room

Sponsored by Hawaii Women Lawyers and Hawaii State Bar Association

Please join us on Monday, June 15 from Noon to 1:15 p.m. for a discussion on doing business with the State of Hawaii and the City and County of Honolulu, led by Julie China, Hawaii State Deputy Attorney General and Donna Leong, Corporation Counsel for the City and County of Honolulu.

Hear from attorneys who represent State and County departments or agencies that are frequently involved in granting approvals to or entering into agreements with businesses about:  (i) how negotiating a contract with the State may differ from negotiating with private parties, (ii) special issues or considerations unique to doing business with the State or County, and (iii) how you can put your client in the best position when requesting approvals from the State or County or entering agreements with State and County departments and agencies.

  • Julie China is a Deputy Attorney General for the State of Hawaii.  She represents the Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) in real property acquisitions and conservation easements, including the Turtle Bay conservation easement.  She has also represented DLNR in the Mauna Kea and Haleakala telescopes and Na Wai Eha water cases.
  • Donna Leong is Corporation Counsel for the City and County of Honolulu.  She was previously Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary at Outrigger Enterprises and a partner in the Finance and Real Estate Department at Cades Schutte.

Invite a friend or colleague - the more, the merrier!  Please register online  no later than Friday, June 12 to let us know you are coming.

Bring a bag lunch or snack; beverages will be provided.  And bring some of your business cards for networking, to help introduce yourself to others.

Members of Hawaii Women Lawyers who attend are eligible to enter a drawing for 2 free movie tickets!
