Lady Lawyers Luncheon:  Law Firm Partnership--Rewards and Responsibilities

 Please join us on Monday, May 18 from Noon to 1:15 p.m. for a discussion on how to make partner at a law firm and the rewards and responsibilities of partnership, led by Joanne Grimes, partner at Carlsmith Ball LLP, and Lauren Sharkey, director/shareholder at Case Lombardi & Pettit, A Law Corporation.  Learn the different ways that law firm partnerships are structured, factors influencing whether partnership will be offered, what you should know about a law firm's governance and compensation structure before joining a firm or accepting partnership, and how the compensation structure could affect your responsibilities and the expectations of you as a law firm partner.

  •  Joanne Lo Grimes is a partner at Carlsmith Ball LLP and a former president of Hawaii Women Lawyers.  She is a recipient of the Rhoda Lewis Award for public service, and currently serves on the boards of PBS Hawaii and the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii.  Since 2010, she has been recognized as one of America's Best Lawyers in the fields of Employee Benefits Law and NonProfits/Charities Law.  She also has the highest "AV" professional rating by Martindale Hubbell Law Directory.  In addition to her law degree, she has a B.S. in Finance, a Master's degree in International Management and is a Certified Financial Planner.
  • Lauren R. Sharkey is a director/shareholder at Case Lombardi & Pettit, A Law Corporation, one of Hawaii’s oldest law firms which traces its roots back to 1888.  She served as the managing director for the firm from 2008 through 2014.  She concentrates her practice in the areas of real estate, taxation and business & commercial law. She is also licensed (inactive) as a certified public accountant in Hawai’i and California.  She has been recognized by Super Lawyers (2011-2013) and Best Lawyers in America (2013-2015) and is an "AV" rated attorney, possessing the highest level of skill and integrity by Martindale Hubbell Law Directory.  She is also a former president of Hawaii Women Lawyers and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Hawaii Women’s Legal Foundation.
