Lady Lawyers Luncheon -- Closing the Confidence Gap for Women

Offices of Alston Hunt Floyd & Ing, 1001 Bishop Street, 20th Floor

Monday, April 6, 2015 at Noon

Please join us on Monday, April 6 at Noon to 1:15 p.m., for an inspirational session on Closing the Confidence Gap for Women, led by Hawaii Supreme Court Justice Sabrina McKenna and Sharon Lovejoy, partner and litigator at Starn O'Toole Marcus & Fisher. Learn key tips on how to enhance your confidence and self-esteem, and join us as we discuss simple ways to express your confidence to the benefit of your career.

This program responds to recent national news showing evidence that confidence matters as much as competence to success and that women face a vast confidence gap compared to men.  In studies, though the performance of men and women did not differ in quality, men overestimated their abilities and performance while women underestimated both. This can lead to unfair disparities in job opportunities, reputation and income. With work, however, we can build our own confidence and help close this confidence gap.

She has served on various committees addressing equality and access issues, and has received the University of Hawaii Distinguished Alumnus Award and the Hawaii Women Lawyers Outstanding Judicial Achievement Award.
