Please join us on Monday, February 23 at Noon to 1:15 p.m. to hear the Honorable Victoria Marks and Lisa Jacobs, Esq.’s innovative approaches for resolving divorces, custody disputes and other family disputes through mediation, arbitration and collaborative law. Help your friends and clients avoid costly litigation and encourage use of creative options for resolving domestic disputes. This is a free program co-sponsored by HSBA.

Judge Victoria Marks retired from the bench after 15 years as a Circuit Judge and 6 years as a Family Judge. She has presided over hundreds of trials and has conducted thousands of settlement conferences. She is now an active mediator and arbitrator with Dispute Prevention and Resolution, Inc. She has been named in The Best Lawyers in America for her Arbitration and Mediation, as Honolulu Best Lawyers Arbitration Lawyer of the Year, as Jurist of the Year (Hawaii Judiciary) and as one of the top 500 Judges in the U. S. by Law Dragon.

Lisa Jacobs has found her calling as a Collaborative Attorney and Mediator. She opened her own firm, called Better Way Divorce, aka Pono Divorce, where she uses a Collaborative Divorce Interdisciplinary Team Practice in nonadversarial approaches to assist couples to arrive at full and sustainable agreements. She is a Mediator for the Mediation Center of the Pacific and serves on the Board of Directors of the Association for Conflict Resolution – Hawaii Chapter. She also speaks on Compassionate, Nonviolent Communication. As Lisa says, the term “Collaborative Divorce” need not be an oxymoron, but an innovative, civil method of conflict resolution.
