Thank you to everyone who donated items and/or money during HWL's recent drive benefitting the Women of Wai'anae (WOW) Scholarship.  WOW will be holding their yard sale this weekend (April 12 & 13) from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 86-024 Glenmonger Street, Waianae, HI 96792 (across from Tamura's).  Please stop by and support WOW's efforts to help non-traditional students in the Wai'anae community complete their college or trade school education.

About WOW:

For over 20 years, WOW has been working to improve their community, in part, through their scholarship program.  Each year, WOW raises funds through yard sales and other events.  Recipients are non-traditional students in the Wai'anae community who have started college or trade school and may not have had the opportunity to go to college after high school.  Now older, many with children, recipients do not have the financial ability to pay for tuition, books, and the many other costs of pursuing higher education (e.g., child care, transportation, books, proper attire).

Last year, WOW awarded nine scholarships - and has come a long way since awarding its first scholarship in 1989.  The top recipient was awarded $1,500 and the remaining received $600.00 each.  WOW's goal is to raise enough funds for 10 or more scholarships (last year, WOW turned down 14 other applicants due to lack of funds).  Please help us support this wonderful group, while getting started on your spring cleaning!
