Lady Lawyers Luncheon - Is Talking About Work-Life Balance A Fraud?

  • May 29, 2013
  • 12:00 PM
  • Plaza Club

Please join us for lunch on Wednesday, May 29 to consider ABA President Laurel Bellow's recent remarks in the ABA Journal that:  "work-life balance [is] not achievable.  I think it’s actually a misrepresentation.  Talking about work-life balance is fraud."  See full article at http://www.abajournal.com/news/article/aba_president_laurel_bellows_talking_about_work-life_balance_is_fraud/

We will hear perspectives from three women at the top of their profession -Judge Leslie Kobayashi, Louise Ing and Sherry Broder - all of whom have juggled children, community service and workplace demands to create successful careers.  Is there a "balance" that truly works, or is this just a dream and a fraud?  Come join us to discuss and engage on these issues!

Invite a friend or colleague - the more, the merrier!  Please respond to rosep@ahfi.com by Friday, May 24 to let us know if you are coming.  We will meet at the Plaza Club, 20th Floor, 900 Fort Street Mall, on May 29 at Noon.  We will have an in-room lunch buffet with salad, soup, sandwich and desert for $22 (tea/drink is another $4-$5).  If you are an HWL member, mention that in your RSVP and you will be entered in a drawing for two free lunches for HWL members.
