Hawaii Women Lawyers Luncheon Presents:

Female Faces of Homelessness

Monday, August 22, 2016

Offices of Hawaii State Bar Association
1100 Alakea Street, Suite 1000

Sponsored by Hawaii Women Lawyers and the Hawaii State Bar Association

Pictures of homelessness often focus on single men, but many of our homeless in Hawaii are women:  grandmothers, teenagers, domestic violence victims, mothers with children, and others. Women suffer greatly from heightened risks of assault and rape, sexual exploitation, and often suffer in silence rather than reporting to police when they become victims of crime. Our speakers will discuss what it’s like to live on the streets as a single woman or a mother with children. We will highlight the programs in the state trying to make a difference in finding housing for women in need.

Our speakers include: Reverend Terry Yasako Ogawa, Chaplain, Institute for Human Services, and Christy MacPherson, Case Manager, Family Promise.

Invite a friend or colleague - the more, the merrier! Please register online no later than Friday, August 19, to let us know you are coming. Attendance is free. You can attend in person or via webcast.

Bring a bag lunch or snack; beverages will be provided. Come early and stay late for networking. And bring some of your business cards to help introduce yourself to others.

Members of Hawaii Women Lawyers who attend are eligible to enter a drawing for 2 free movie tickets!
