Lady Lawyers Luncheon:

Development and Recognition Opportunities

Monday, September 14, 2015 at Noon

Offices of Alston Hunt Floyd & Ing, ASB Tower, 1001 Bishop Street, 20th Floor conference room

Sponsored by Hawaii Women Lawyers and the Hawaii State Bar Association

Please join us on Monday, September 14 from Noon to 1:15 p.m. for a discussion with a participant of the Omidyar Fellows program and the Pacific Century Fellows program and the organizer of the HBSA Leadership Institute about these opportunities.  The discussion will include answers to the following questions:  What qualifications are sought in candidates for these programs?  What is the time commitment?  What are the benefits of participating in these programs?  What are some other opportunities for developing leadership and executive skills and gaining visibility in the Hawaii legal and business communities.

  • Jan Harada is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Helping Hands Hawai‘i.  She is a member of the Hawaii State Bar (inactive status) and has worked at the Hawaii State Department of Health and at Palama Settlement, a community-based non-profit organization.  She was a 2008 Pacific Century Fellow, a 2008 Weinberg Fellow, a 2012 Hawaii Community Foundation PONO Program participant, and a 2013-14 Omidyar Fellow.  She currently serves on four different community Boards of Directors.
  • Patricia Mau-Shimizu is the Executive Director of the Hawaii State Bar Association.  She began her career at the Hawaii State Capitol as a legislative analyst and staff attorney.  She was previously chief clerk of the Hawaii State House of Representatives for 18 years.  At the Hawaii State Bar Association, she oversees 15 staff members and all programs and policies of the organization.

Invite a friend or colleague - the more, the merrier!  Please register online no later than Friday, September 11 to let us know you are coming.  Bring a bag lunch or snack; beverages will be provided.  And bring some of your business cards for networking, to help introduce yourself to others.  Members of Hawaii Women Lawyers who attend are eligible to enter a drawing for 2 free movie tickets!
